Alumni and students at career fair
Penn State New Kensington hosts local and national employers at its annual Career Day, held in conjunction with the campus’ Research Expo. The 2015 edition is set for April 14 in the Athletics Center.

Spring Days, WestPACS coming in March

The Office of Career Services at Penn State New Kensington has scheduled two job fairs: Penn State Spring Career Days and the Western Pennsylvania Career Services Association (WestPACS). These fairs help recent and soon-to-be graduates get started in a career. Employers will be interviewing for full-time positions, internships and summer jobs at both events.

Spring Career Days run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 9 and 10, in the Bryce Jordan Center at Penn State University Park. More than 400 national and regional employers will be recruiting in all technical and nontechnical majors. The event is the best opportunity for all Penn Staters, students and alumni, to meet with major state and national recruiters. Not only is this an excellent opportunity to gain employment, but it is a great learning experience and offers "real life" practice for professional presentation, interviewing and networking skills.

WestPACS is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, at the Monroeville Convention Center along Route 22 in Monroeville, Pa. The job events are open to current students and graduates of two- and four-year programs. Recruiters from a wide variety of industries, including telecommunications, engineering, technologies, health care, government, human services, retail, hospitality and financial services will attend. The fair is geared toward fall 2014 and spring 2015 graduates and recent alumni with program certificates and degrees in all majors. There are also many internship opportunities for current undergraduates.

In addition to Spring Days and WestPACS, Penn State New Kensington hosts Career Day from 12:30 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, in the Athletics Center. Open to Penn State students and alumni, the job and internship fair provides an opportunity to meet and network with local businesses, learn about careers in various majors and generate leads on internships or jobs.

Held in conjunction with the annual Research Fair and Creative Exposition, Career Day provides opportunities for local organizations to learn about the many research and creative projects happening at the campus.

Registration for all events can be made by contacting Jim Shields at 724-334-6065 or xjs8@psu.edu
