LAUREN BLUM PROVIDES
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TO STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Lauren Blum was named recently as student life coordinator at Penn State New Kensington.

Working out of the Student Life office, Blum is responsible for student leadership development, student activities, marketing student co-curricular programs, and web support for student affairs. Her duties include providing administrative support to student clubs and organizations, coordinating cultural programs and events, and advising the Student Government Association.

Blum, a native of Beaver Falls, Pa., is no stranger to the campus. She has spent the past year working as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Affairs.

A graduate of Lock Haven University with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Recreation Management, Blum is working on a master's in Student Affairs in Higher Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She expects to complete the course work in summer 2012.

"We are hoping to initiate a student leadership program, to encourage students to step up and take leadership roles on campus and in the community," Blum said. "We are also looking into ways to increase our sustainability efforts in student life as well as around campus and in the community."

To contact Blum, call 724-334-6063 or ldb14@psu.edu via email.
Sustainability will be at the forefront from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the New Kensington campus. A series of town hall meetings are scheduled on all of Penn State campuses during September and October.

The University Sustainability Council is drafting Penn State’s first Strategic Plan for Sustainability and is seeking public input during the drafting process. Erik Foley, director of the Penn State Campus Sustainability Office, and Susannah Barsom, associate director of the Penn State Center for Sustainability, will visit each campus to share the plan in its current form and to listen to input from the campus and the public.
