BBQ and drive-in movies

UPPER BURRELL, Pa. -- In keeping with Chancellor Kevin Snider’s vision of bringing together the campus and community, Penn State New Kensington will host three evening movies throughout the summer geared to the local community.

“Summer BBQ and Drive-in Movie” kicks off on Thursday, June 25, in the campus’ upper parking lot. The lot opens at 7 p.m., BBQ starts at 7:30 p.m. and the flicks premiere at dusk. If the capricious western Pennsylvania weather does not cooperate, the family-oriented movies will relocate to the Forum Theatre and start earlier.

The June film, “Home,” begins approximately 9:30 p.m. The next movie, “Big Hero Six,” starts around 9:20 p.m. Thursday, July 16. The final film, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” opens at roughly 8:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13.

The movies are free to the public. The BBQ sandwiches are free to campus students and $5 for the general public.
