Prospective students can learn more about the campus

UPPER BURRELL, Pa. -- Prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to discover the benefits of attending Penn State New Kensington at five admissions events during September, October and November. These programs will acquaint students and parents with the campus and Penn State's wide variety of academic programs. Additional events will be held in the spring.

Open House
The fall open house at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, gives students and their families an introduction to Penn State. Patty Brady, director of enrollment management, and the admissions/student life staff will talk about the admission process, applying for financial aid and getting involved in student activities. In addition, a faculty panel will discuss the University's various academic opportunities.  A campus tour and lunch will also be provided.

Application Day
The Application Day workshop is set from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8. The admissions staff will help students complete the application form and answer questions about the admissions process.  The $50 application fee will be waived.  In addition, prospective students who indicate New Kensington as their first preference may receive an admissions decision within a week if they bring a high school transcript and their SAT or ACT scores. Appointments are highly recommended. If you can’t make it, Application Day redux is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 16.

Penn State Day
Penn State campuses from across the state celebrate the annual Penn State Day, 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21. New Kensington’s event is in the campus Forum Theatre. Students and families can explore Penn State, including the various campus locations, over 160 bachelor's and 20 associate degrees available, admissions, financial aid, student life, and much more. Participants can meet campus staff and faculty and tour campus with current students.

Be a Student for a Day
Prospective students can get a glimpse of college life first-hand at the New Kensington campus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, as a part of the "Be a Penn State Student for a Day" program. Students will experience a college class, interact with current students, go on a campus scavenger hunt, and learn about making the transition from high school to college. Attendees can enjoy a free lunch in Cafe 780. Additional "Be a Student" days will be held during the spring 2016 semester.

To register for these events, call 724-334-LION or 888-968-PAWS.
