On Friday May 4, more than 100 guests are expected to turn out to honor the career of retiring Penn State New Kensington campus Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Arlene Hall.

The evening promises a warm occasion that celebrates Hall’s contributions to the campus and gives many the opportunity to share their memories and well wishes with the treasured university leader.

“We are expecting almost 150 guests in the Athletics Center for an evening full of surprise speakers, presentation, great memories, excellent food and better conversation,” said Ruth Herstek, administrative support assistant, Academic Affairs.

The event, which begins at 6 p.m. will welcome those who have worked with Hall in any number of ways, be they students, staff, faculty, family or friends.

“Many current staff, faculty, students and athletes will be in attendance to help Dr. Hall celebrate her 36 years of service to this campus in roles such as Associate Professor of Kinesiology, volleyball coach and basketball coach, and as director of academic affairs for the last 11 years.”

Hall, who retires in June, started her career in the public school system and stayed within the field of education for more than 40 years, with 36 of those years at Penn State.

She earned her Ph.D. in 1991 and became a tenured faculty member and associate professor about six years later. In addition to teaching kinesiology, Hall coached a number of sports teams.

Among her accomplishments are forming a faculty committee for undergraduate research, introducing international programming on campus and mentoring countless faculty and staff.
