"ALUMNI CENTRAL" TENT AT
FALL FESTIVAL IS FOCUS OF DISCUSSION
6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, Conference Center
The Alle-Kiski Society of the Penn State Alumni Association will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17, in the Conference Center at Penn State New Kensington.
The top agenda item is the schedule of activities for the alumni tent at Penn State New Kensington's Fall Festival. Among its many projects, the society sponsors the "Alumni Central" tent at the annual campus and community event, set for Saturday, Sept. 29. The highlight of tent festivities will be the Penn State vs. Illinois football game on a big-screen TV. Game time has yet to be announced. Refreshments will be available at kick-off. For more information, contact Bill Woodard at 724-334-6046 or uxw1@psu.edu.
A special aspect of the September meeting is a tour of the new athletic facilities and chemistry lab. Last year, the society’s board fulfilled its $10,000 pledge to the Athletics Center. Its donation was used to refurbish the Fitness Center, giving the women’s locker room a complete makeover, moving cardiovascular equipment to its own room, and setting up a pilates/yoga studio. The chemistry lab in the Science Building was thoroughly renovated. The upgrades improved safety and will allow for more hands-on instruction that support requirements for chemistry and other disciplines.
The society meets on the third Monday of each month, and all alumni, parents, students and friends of Penn State are welcome to attend. Based on the New Kensington campus, the society represents more than 7,000 alumni living in the Alle-Kiski Valley.
