“ENTREPRENEUR FORUM”
6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, Conference Center
Tickets: $10

Budding entrepreneurs can get insights on owning or expanding a business at a forum that is set for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, in the Conference Center at Penn State New Kensington.

The “Entrepreneur Forum” features a panel of local businessmen--Brian Jacobs, president of Westarm Therapy in Lower Burrell; William Kabazie, president of ALKAB Contract Manufacturing Inc. in New Kensington; and Neil Andritz, president of  Rivers Edge in Leechburg--who will share ideas on building a business and utilizing the appropriate resources. Douglas Rosensteel, president of BHD Technologies Inc. in Greensburg, will moderate the discussion. Other topics will include marketing techniques and challenges for start-up companies.

"The event is geared to anyone interested in starting a new business or growing an existing business,” said Pat Hollinger, outreach coordinator for the Continuing Education office at the campus. "The audience can get a fresh look at owning a business from existing company owners.”

The forum is open to campus students and the local business community. The cost is $10. A light dinner will be served. The event is sponsored by the StrongLand Chamber of Commerce and Westmoreland County KIZ (Keystone Innovation Zone). KIZ combines the resources of educational institutions, private businesses, business support organizations, commercial lending institutions, venture capital networks, and foundations to form a partnership that fosters innovation and creates entrepreneurial opportunities.

Penn State New Kensington is one of five higher educational institutions, along with Saint Vincent College, Seton Hill University, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Westmoreland County Community College, that provides resources to support KIZ companies. The city of New Kensington houses one of the county's four KIZ zones in Schreiber Industrial Park, located on 12th Street, off Second Avenue.
