A reception for artist Eloise Piper is set for 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept.6, in the Art Gallery at Penn State New Kensington.
The former Pittsburgh resident's exhibit, "Retrospective," runs through Sept. 28. The multi-media show features Piper’s original works, including those that have never been displayed to the public before, as well as digital and video presentations highlighting major themes and series produced over the nearly six decades of her career as artist, author, and educator.
Piper has exhibited in solo and group shows across the country and has garnered numerous awards. The Carnegie Museum of Art, Baltimore's Contemporary (also known as the “museum without walls”), Yellow Door Gallery in New York and Los Angeles Art Association previously hosted Piper’s works. The reception and exhibit are free to the public. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and noon to 5 p.m. weekends.

Snow Meadows installation was painted for the artist's daughter Carolyn, as she endured a life-saving bone marrow transplant. The 25 sunrises were created consecutively throughout the 25 days of chemo, implantation and early engraftment.
