"Project Management for Non-Project Managers"

8:30 a.m. - noon, Friday, May 2 and 9

Professionals needing career development can hone their skills during the spring 2014 semester at Penn State New Kensington.

The Continuing Education Office sponsors a series of noncredit courses throughout April and May that includes courses on project management and communication in the workplace. The courses do not carry college credit and are often part of a certificate program or are designed to meet the needs of specific skill development. The classes are held in the campus Conference Center.

The series opens with "Project Management for Non-Project Managers" from 8:30 a.m. to noon. on two consecutive Fridays, May 2 and 9. The course is designed for non-project managers and emphasizes strategies for identifying high-impact projects, resourcing allocation, and planning and implementation. The cost is $195 and includes materials.

Communication in the workplace is the theme for two companion workshops -- “Basic Principles of Communication,” 8 a.m. to noon, Thursday, May 15 and 22, and “Presentation Skills,” 8 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, May 14, 21 and 28. The workshops can help adult learners to develop and enhance their communications and presentation skills. The courses will demonstrate contemporary approaches to both oral and written communications used in business. The cost of the communication workshop is $195 and the cost of the presentation workshop is $295.

To register for the courses, contact Beth Nury, at bxn10@psu.edu or 724-334-6010.
