Planning for fall events
6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18
After a July recess, the Alle-Kiski Society of the Penn State Alumni Association opens its 2014-15 monthly meeting schedule at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 18, at the Elks Club in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
The society, which has donated more than $50,000 to the campus in the past four years, engages in various campus projects throughout the year, interacting with former and current students by sponsoring social events and other networking activities. Among its many projects, the society sponsors the Alumni Golf Scramble on Aug. 8, TV football party for the Penn State-Michigan game on Oct.11, and the Alumni Bowl-a-thon on March 22, 2015.
Proceeds from the golf tournament benefit campus students. Each year, the Alle-Kiski Society awards more than $4,000 to upperclassmen at New Kensington. The society meets the third Monday of each month, except for January, April, July and December.
The meeting venue rotates among the campus, Tarentum Elks Club, and JG’s Tarentum Station in Tarentum. All alumni, parents of Penn State students, and friends of Penn State are encouraged to attend. Based on the New Kensington campus, the society represents more than 7,000 alumni living in the Alle-Kiski Valley.
